Welcome to
As Fall rolls in and the prospect of holiday planning, it can often be a busy time of year for Interior Designers. With wrapping projects up, trips to High Point and the general hustle and bustle of the season, it can feel a bit overwhelming. But don’t worry—we’ve got some friendly tips to help you stay organized and keep that creativity flowing while you navigate this busy time.
First things first: take a moment to prioritize your workload. Figure out which tasks are urgent and which can wait a bit. A simple to-do list or a project management tool can really help you see what needs your attention right away. Here at MCVA, we love to use Asana to keep everything on track. Another great software some of our clients use is Basecamp!
Next, set some specific goals for each project. Break those hefty tasks into smaller steps, and give yourself deadlines for each one. Trust us, checking things off your list feels amazing and keeps you motivated!
Don’t shy away from tech! Use design software like Mydoma and Studio Designer and project management tools to help keep everything organized. These tools make collaboration a breeze and can save you tons of time on revisions and mock-ups.
Feeling a little swamped? Consider bringing in a virtual design assistant (cough cough, MC Virtual Assistants). A VA can handle those daunting admin tasks and help you stay focused on what you love—designing!
Having a routine can work wonders. Try to set aside specific time blocks for design work, client meetings, site visits and desk time. This way, you can stay focused and keep your day on track.
We all know distractions can be a productivity killer. Identify what pulls your attention away and find ways to limit them—maybe turn off those phone notifications or schedule specific times to check emails.
And remember, taking breaks is super important! Step away from your desk, grab a coffee, or take a quick walk. This can recharge your brain and spark new ideas, which is just what you need during a busy season.
At the end of each week, take a little time to look back on what you accomplished. Reflect on what worked and what could be tweaked for next week. It’s a great way to keep improving your workflow!
As we dive into this fall season and enjoy that first pumpkin latte, remember that staying organized and efficient doesn’t have to be stressful. With these tips, you’ll be ready to tackle your projects with confidence and creativity. Here’s to a productive and inspiring quarter —happy designing!
